AFMC, established in 1948 is one of the premier institutes offering quality education in medical and nursing field and set up by amalgamation of Army Medical Training Centre, the Army School of Hygiene, Central Military Pathology Laboratory, the School of Blood Transfusion and Army School of Radiology. Located in Pune Cantonment in Pune in the state of Maharashtra, the institute is managed by the Indian Armed Forces and offers training to undergraduate and postgraduate medical and nursing students with recruitment as medical officers in Indian Army. AFMC is currently affiliated to Maharashtra University of Health and is recognised by MCI for conducting courses.
Highlights:
•AFMC is the only medical college except Army Medical College, Rawalpindi, Pakistan, in Asia where all expenses are paid by the Government (Ministry of Defence).
•The "Graduate Wing" of AFMC was established on 04 August 1962 to provide a sustainable and steady intake of medical officers for the Indian Armed Forces.
